Busy Weekend for Premier Giants

The Kenya Hockey League enters the second weekend of its second leg, with multiple encounters for top rated Butali Warriors and Greensharks. Both teams will be hoping to continue their winning spree from last weekend, where Greensharks beat Strathmore Gladiators 3-1; partially recovering from the previous 5-1 thumping in the first leg. The Warriors also had a field day against KCA-U, easily winning 5-1 against an evidently struggling side. Sharks face KCA-U on Saturday September 1st at 1600 HRS, in what is sensationally termed the Barclay’s Derby, and Sikh Union on Sunday afternoon. Butali Warriors have a scheduled encounter with Wazalendo and Hockey Club Nakuru on Sunday.

In other leagues, Chase Amira face off against Telkom women early Sunday morning, right after JKUAT’s match against Vikings. The match between the Amira ladies and Telkom women is likely to be a one sided affair if the previous encounters between the two sides is anything to go by. Expectations regarding any spectacular performance from the banking ladies are minimal. One fan was quoted saying “I have yet to wake up to a miracle from Amira”. It would, undoubtedly, be mind-blowing to see a surprise performance from the team; but Telkom’s dominance in the league has so far gone unchallenged. There are no further fixtures for the Women’s Premier League this weekend.

More matches scheduled for this weekend include TUK vs Impala on Saturday and vs MMU on Sunday and the Western Jaguars against Parklands in Kakamega.

Make your date. Choose your side. Have a very hockey weekend
